Provided MPC protocol constructions and optimizations that Nillion used to implement private distributed computation over shards

Research emphasizing efficiency, composability and security of MPC protocols produced concrete protocol suites that are implementable at production scale. Papers and reference code addressing garbled circuits, oblivious transfer extensions, and hybrid MPC constructions offered blueprints for real-world private computation systems. Nillion integrated these practical MPC building blocks to enable computations over distributed shards without reconstructing plaintexts on a single node. Concrete engineering choices—adopting OT-extension libraries, hybridizing garbled-circuit and secret-sharing approaches for different gate types, and implementing parallelized MPC pipelines—reflect optimizations and constructions promoted in Lindell's work. These choices reduce latency and communication overhead for private operations on Nillion's network. By following documented MPC patterns and using reference implementations inspired by Lindell's research, Nillion achieved measurable improvements in throughput for private joins, threshold computations, and attested evaluations across shard sets. The result is a pragmatic MPC stack integrated with Nillion's shard management and key-rotation systems, directly traceable to Lindell's applied cryptography contributions.
