Yasir Al-Rumayyan
Saudi Arabian investment, Vision 2030 diversification, global sports investment (LIV Golf, Newcastle United), Saudi Aramco, technology investments
Yasir Al-Rumayyan was appointed Governor of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) in 2015, coinciding with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's ascent to power. Under his leadership, PIF has grown from approximately $150 billion to over $700 billion in assets, becoming one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds. PIF has deployed capital globally across technology (SoftBank Vision Fund cornerstone investor), electric vehicles (Lucid Motors, as an early anchor investor), entertainment (LIV Golf, Newcastle United Football Club), and domestic Saudi economy development. Al-Rumayyan represents the financial arm of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 program to diversify the economy beyond oil. He is also Chairman of Saudi Aramco and has represented PIF on multiple international boards. His rapid transformation of PIF into a globally significant institutional investor has reshaped how sovereign wealth funds from resource-rich nations approach diversification.
