Yang Jincheng

Chairman of CSSC (China Shipbuilding) · CSSC

Commands China's state shipbuilding monopoly with the world's largest orderbook, building everything from LNG carriers to aircraft carriers

Yang Jincheng serves as Chairman of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), the world's largest shipbuilding group by orderbook, created from the 2019 mega-merger of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (the original CSSC). The combined entity controls virtually all of China's major shipyards and represents China's ambition to dominate global maritime industries. CSSC builds an extraordinary range of vessels: commercial ships (bulk carriers, oil tankers, container ships, car carriers, LNG carriers), naval vessels (including China's aircraft carriers, destroyers, and submarines), and offshore equipment (drilling platforms, floating production units). China now leads the world in shipbuilding orderbook and deliveries, having overtaken South Korea and Japan. CSSC is the primary vehicle for this dominance. The global shipbuilding market is experiencing a supercycle driven by vessel replacement needs (a large portion of the global fleet is aging), decarbonization requirements (ships need to be replaced with more fuel-efficient or alternative-fuel vessels), and growing LNG carrier demand (driven by global LNG trade expansion). Key stock drivers include global shipbuilding orderbook, vessel pricing trends, LNG carrier demand, Chinese naval spending, raw material costs (steel), production efficiency, and geopolitical factors affecting international ship orders.
