Privacy defaults, consent frameworks, trust and compliance

Established privacy and security constraints that determined what attention metrics could be collected and how they could be exposed to advertisers without compromising user identity. These constraints shaped technical schema for event aggregation, on‑device processing and the balance between advertiser measurement and user anonymity. Work on consent flows, opt‑in models and telemetry minimization altered adoption tradeoffs by affecting advertiser confidence while preserving user protections. Regulatory interpretations of privacy features and the manner of data handling influenced compliance costs and how easily publishers could integrate BAT‑based settlements. Influence extended to security hardening of wallet key storage and integration with browser permission models, limiting attack surfaces that could threaten token custody. Decisions in this domain therefore had downstream effects on user trust, legal risk management and ultimately on the perceived reliability of BAT as a utility token for micropayments.
