Private credit, hedge fund alternatives, distressed debt, real assets

Wes Edens co-founded Fortress Investment Group in 1998 with Peter Briger and Randal Nardone, combining private equity, hedge fund, and credit strategies. Fortress became the first alternative investment manager to go public on the NYSE in 2007. Edens manages both credit and equity strategies at Fortress and has also invested in sports teams including the Milwaukee Bucks and Aston Villa. Fortress was acquired by SoftBank in 2017 for $3.3 billion. Edens is known for creative capital structure thinking and sourcing opportunities in stressed and distressed credit situations. His investment in the Milwaukee Bucks, acquired in 2014, generated substantial returns after the team's NBA championship win in 2021 significantly increased the franchise's commercial value and arena district development prospects.
