Brian Duperreault
Global insurance industry, AIG restructuring post-crisis, commercial insurance market, specialty insurance, reinsurance sector
Brian Duperreault has had one of the most distinguished careers in the global insurance industry. He spent decades at AIG before becoming CEO of Hamilton Insurance Group, then CEO of Marsh & McLennan Companies (the world's largest insurance brokerage firm). He was brought back to AIG as CEO in 2017 to stabilize and rebuild the company after years of difficult post-crisis restructuring under government control. His insurance expertise spanning underwriting, risk management, and corporate turnarounds made him one of the most respected executives in the global insurance industry. During his tenure at AIG, Duperreault rebuilt the senior management team, restructured the firm's operating model into commercial and personal lines segments, and laid the foundation for the subsequent separation of the life and retirement business that was completed under his successor Peter Zaffino.
