Vlad Tenev co-founded Robinhood in 2013 with Baiju Bhatt. Robinhood pioneered zero-commission stock trading and fractional shares, attracting millions of first-time investors. The platform became central to the 2021 meme stock phenomenon when it controversially restricted trading in GameStop and other stocks during the short squeeze. Tenev testified before Congress about the restrictions and payment for order flow business model.
