Terrence Duffy

CME Group Executive Chairman · CME Group

Global derivatives market infrastructure, interest rate futures, commodity futures, CME Globex electronic platform, futures market regulation

Terrence "Terry" Duffy worked his way up from floor trader to become Chairman and CEO of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). He oversaw the transformative mergers that created CME Group: the combination of CME with the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in 2007, then the acquisition of NYMEX and COMEX in 2008, creating the world's largest futures exchange complex. CME Group's product range covers interest rates (Treasury and Eurodollar futures), equity indexes (S&P 500, Nasdaq, Dow), foreign exchange, energy, metals, and agricultural commodities. Duffy navigated the transition from open-outcry floor trading to electronic trading through CME's Globex platform, which now handles the vast majority of CME's trading volume. He has also championed CME Group's data and analytics business as a growing revenue stream that complements the firm's trading and clearing franchise.
