protocol theory, security analysis, consensus modelling

Contributed foundational theoretical work that underpinned early claims about the Tangle's behavior under different load and adversarial conditions. Research focused on probabilistic properties of tip selection, confirmation confidence, and conditions required to maintain liveness and robustness without traditional chain‑based finality. This theoretical framing informed engineering priorities, influencing which attack models required mitigations, how confirmation confidence was measured and what assumptions were necessary for practical deployments. Academic publications and technical notes served as references for both internal development and external reviewers assessing security properties. Influence extended beyond pure theory by shaping conversations about required protocol upgrades and the direction of coordinated research efforts. As the project moved through Chrysalis and Coordicide, these early models were tested against empirical network data and revised, but they remained a vital part of the intellectual scaffolding that guided iterative protocol improvements and risk assessments.
