Scott Minerd
US institutional fixed income, insurance asset management, macro market outlook, credit market structure, Guggenheim research platform
Scott Minerd served as Global Chief Investment Officer of Guggenheim Partners from its founding until his death in December 2022. He built Guggenheim's investment management business into a major institutional fixed income platform managing hundreds of billions for insurance companies, pension funds, and other institutional investors. Minerd was known for his broad macro market commentary, often making sweeping predictions about asset prices, Federal Reserve policy, and market valuations. His background included senior positions at Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley before Guggenheim. He was also known for regular appearances in financial media where his market calls — sometimes contrarian and sometimes extreme — attracted significant attention. His unexpected death from a heart attack in December 2022 cut short the career of one of the more colorful and intellectually ambitious figures in institutional fixed income.
