Scott Minerd
Guggenheim Partners Global CIO for 20+ years; built firm to manage $300B+; widely followed macro and credit market commentary; regular CNBC appearances; died December 2022 at 63.
Scott Minerd worked at Credit Suisse First Boston and Morgan Stanley before joining Guggenheim Partners as its global chief investment officer. He built Guggenheim's investment management capabilities over more than 20 years, growing the firm to manage over $300 billion in assets across fixed income, equities, and alternative investments. Minerd was widely recognised for his accessible, well-reasoned macro and fixed income market commentary. He made significant impact calls during the COVID-19 crisis in early 2020, advocating for aggressive risk-taking as credit spreads widened dramatically — a position that proved correct as credit markets rebounded sharply. He was a regular commentator on CNBC and Bloomberg and his views on credit cycles, Federal Reserve policy, and fixed income valuations were closely followed by institutional investors globally. Minerd died unexpectedly of a heart attack in December 2022 at age 63, cutting short a distinguished career. He had been working on a book on investing at the time of his death.
