Peter Herweck

CEO of Schneider Electric · Schneider Electric

global

Peter Herweck became CEO of Schneider Electric in May 2023, succeeding Jean-Pascal Tricoire who had led the company for 17 years. Herweck joined Schneider from his previous role as CEO of AVEVA (the industrial software company that Schneider acquired) and before that held senior positions at Siemens. Schneider Electric has become one of Europe's most valuable industrial companies, with a market capitalization exceeding €130 billion. Schneider Electric operates at the intersection of three powerful megatrends: electrification (as the world shifts from fossil fuels to electric power), digitalization (as buildings, factories, and infrastructure become connected and software-controlled), and sustainability (as regulations and corporate commitments drive energy efficiency investment). The company's two main divisions — Energy Management (electrical distribution, building management, grid automation) and Industrial Automation (process control, discrete automation, software) — provide the products and software that enable these transitions. The data center market has been a particularly strong growth driver: Schneider's electrical distribution equipment, UPS systems, cooling solutions, and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software are used in the majority of the world's hyperscale and enterprise data centers. The AI-driven data center construction boom has significantly benefited Schneider. Key stock drivers include data center capex trends, electrification investment globally, industrial automation demand, building efficiency regulations, software and services revenue growth, and Herweck's execution of margin improvement initiatives.
