Built the world's largest single-site solar park and transformed Dubai's utility into a clean energy leader with a target of 75% clean electricity by 2050
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer has led DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) as Managing Director and CEO since 2004, building it into one of the most efficient and technologically advanced utilities in the world. DEWA was listed on the Dubai Financial Market in April 2022 in what was Dubai's largest-ever IPO, raising $6.1 billion and valuing the company at approximately $33 billion. DEWA provides electricity and desalinated water to approximately 3.6 million people across Dubai, with generation capacity exceeding 14 GW of electricity and 490 MIGD of desalinated water. The utility operates the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which at 5 GW planned capacity will be the world's largest single-site solar park. DEWA has achieved some of the lowest electricity and water losses globally — electricity transmission and distribution losses below 3.3% and water losses below 5%. Al Tayer's strategic vision includes achieving Dubai's Clean Energy Strategy 2050 target of 75% clean energy by 2050. DEWA has attracted the world's lowest solar tariffs through competitive bidding, with concentrated solar power (CSP) and photovoltaic projects operational and under construction. Key stock drivers include Dubai population and economic growth, electricity and water demand, tariff structure, clean energy investment program, desalination capacity expansion, government ownership and dividend policy, and the broader UAE economic diversification trajectory.
