Led fundraising, governance setup, token distribution and mainnet launch
Took primary responsibility for assembling the initial institutional architecture and funding that enabled Celo to move from prototype to production. Directed early fundraising rounds, negotiated key venture and ecosystem investments, and defined initial token allocation parameters that determined circulating supply and vesting schedules used in launch distributions. Those funding decisions materially affected validator incentives and the pace of development during the first year. Oversaw the operational steps to deploy the protocol into a public network, coordinating engineering, legal and partnership tracks required for mainnet activation. Managed the handover of governance primitives and the initial on‑chain treasury setup, including the structure for community grants and multi‑signature controls that shaped subsequent governance proposals and budget flows. Acted as a public face in institutional and regulatory dialogues, shaping how Celo positioned its stablecoin efforts and mobile‑first strategy to investors and partner organizations. Policy and organizational choices made in this period constrained later protocol upgrades and determined who held early control over critical protocol parameters and liquidity resources.
