Maintained a popular validator client that saw production use across many staking operators, exposing practical issues around process isolation, restart behaviour, state synchronization and client upgrades. Empirical observations from client deployments informed necessary operational guarantees for distributed signing and validator availability. Client-level behaviors—how keys are loaded, how signing requests are handled under load, and how upgrades affect ephemeral signing state—define the integration surface for any distributed validator system. Lessons learned by client teams shaped expectations for API stability, message formats and failure handling that SSV had to accommodate. Collaboration and interoperability testing between client developers and distributed-validator projects reduced integration friction. By providing concrete implementation constraints and performance profiles, client teams contributed technical requirements that guided the engineering trade-offs in secret-sharing, latency tolerance and fallback mechanisms implemented by SSV.
