Peter Todd

Security researcher and protocol upgrade advisor

Published vulnerability analyses and upgrade best practices that influenced Signum's hard fork governance and transaction security choices

Conducted and published detailed analyses of protocol-level attack vectors, transaction malleability, and chain-split scenarios, producing concrete mitigation patterns and upgrade sequences. Those public advisories included patch-level recommendations, deployment strategies for soft and hard forks, and test methodologies that node operators and protocol stewards could apply. Engaged with multiple blockchain projects as a consultant and reviewer, delivering audit reports and upgrade plans that documented rollback risks, replay protection requirements and migration steps. The operational templates and risk assessments from this work were used by other communities as pragmatic checklists when planning incompatible upgrades. Signum maintainers and community governance actors referenced these documented procedures and hardening patterns when drafting their own upgrade specifications and communication plans. The influence therefore manifests in concrete protocol governance choices, fork activation parameters, and the adoption of particular transaction safety measures that reduced systemic upgrade risk for the Signum instrument.
