Peter Rawlinson

Peter Rawlinson leads Lucid Group as both CEO and CTO, combining strategic leadership with hands-on engineering oversight. Before founding Lucid, Rawlinson served as chief engineer of the Tesla Model S — the car that proved electric vehicles could be desirable luxury products. At Lucid, he set out to push EV technology even further: the Lucid Air sedan holds the record for the longest range of any production EV (over 500 miles EPA-rated) and its proprietary powertrain technology delivers industry-leading efficiency. Lucid's technology is genuinely world-class — its motors are the most compact and efficient in the industry, and Lucid has begun licensing this powertrain technology to other automakers (notably Aston Martin for its upcoming EVs). The company's majority shareholder is Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which has invested over $8 billion and provides crucial financial backing during the cash-intensive production ramp phase. The Lucid Gravity SUV launch represents the next major product catalyst. Rawlinson's ability to ramp production volumes, reduce per-unit costs, manage cash burn toward break-even, and successfully launch the Gravity SUV are the critical drivers of Lucid's stock. The company trades largely on production delivery numbers and cash runway visibility.
