Chairman & CEO of TotalEnergies · TotalEnergies

Leads one of the world's five supermajor oil companies while executing the most aggressive energy transition strategy among peers, investing billions in solar, wind, and LNG

Patrick Pouyanné leads TotalEnergies as Chairman and CEO, overseeing one of the world's five supermajor oil and gas companies. Based in Paris, TotalEnergies produces over 2.7 million barrels of oil equivalent per day from operations across the globe — Africa (Nigeria, Angola, Libya), the Middle East, the North Sea, South America, and deepwater developments. The company is also one of the world's largest LNG producers and traders. What distinguishes TotalEnergies from American supermajors (ExxonMobil, Chevron) is its energy transition strategy: the company has invested billions in renewable energy (solar farms, onshore and offshore wind), battery storage, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. TotalEnergies now has 22+ GW of gross renewable generation capacity, making it one of the largest renewable energy operators among oil majors. The company rebranded from "Total" to "TotalEnergies" to reflect this strategic direction. However, TotalEnergies remains fundamentally an oil and gas company, with hydrocarbons generating the vast majority of earnings and cash flow. Key stock drivers include oil and gas prices, production growth and portfolio management, LNG trading and contract margins, renewable energy capacity additions and returns, integrated power segment profitability, capital allocation between hydrocarbons and renewables, dividend and buyback programs, and whether the energy transition strategy commands a valuation premium over peers.
