Nicolai Tangen

Nicolai Tangen has been CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) since 2020, overseeing the world's largest sovereign wealth fund. Norway's Government Pension Fund Global, often called the "oil fund," was established to invest Norway's petroleum revenues internationally. It holds approximately 1.5% of all listed equities globally, making NBIM one of the most significant shareholders in thousands of companies worldwide. NBIM is known for its active approach to corporate governance — voting at shareholder meetings globally and engaging management on issues including executive pay, board composition, climate risk, and diversity. Tangen has increased the fund's activism on ESG issues and strengthened its engagement with portfolio companies on sustainability. Before his government role, he had a successful career founding AKO Capital hedge fund.
