Nick Sleep
Concentrated value investing, scale economies investing thesis, Amazon early identification, Costco business model analysis, long-term pattern recognition
Nick Sleep co-managed Nomad Investment Partnership with Zak Zakaria from 2001 to 2014, generating exceptional long-term returns. Sleep became known in value investing circles for his "scale economics shared" concept — identifying businesses that use their competitive advantages to lower prices and share the benefits with customers, creating a virtuous cycle of growth. His large early positions in Amazon, Costco, and Berkshire Hathaway were based on this insight decades before these companies became consensus favorites. The Nomad Investment Partnership Letters — annual shareholder letters documenting Sleep's investment thinking — have become cult reading in the investment community for their depth of analysis, intellectual honesty, and unconventional thinking. Sleep closed the partnership in 2014 to manage only his own capital.
