Mike Gelband
Multi-strategy hedge fund management, fixed income macro trading, Lehman Brothers legacy, hedge fund industry launches
Mike Gelband served as Head of Fixed Income at Lehman Brothers, giving him front-row experience during the 2008 financial crisis and the firm's collapse. He was notably among the group of Lehman executives who had raised concerns about the firm's real estate exposure before the crisis. After Lehman, he worked at various firms before co-founding ExodusPoint Capital Management in 2018 with Michael Gelband and Hyung Soon Lee. ExodusPoint's $8 billion launch was the largest single hedge fund launch in history at the time, reflecting the confidence investors had in the founding team based on their track records. ExodusPoint runs a multi-strategy model with strategies spanning fixed income, equity, and macro. The massive launch capitalized on the multi-manager "pod" model that was disrupting traditional hedge fund structures.
