global
Miguel Stilwell d'Andrade serves as CEO of both EDP Energias de Portugal and its renewable energy subsidiary EDP Renováveis (EDPR). EDPR was established in 2007 as a dedicated vehicle for EDP's renewable energy growth and was listed separately on Euronext Lisbon to attract green-focused investors and provide a transparent valuation for the renewable portfolio. Under Stilwell's leadership, EDPR has grown into one of the world's largest pure-play renewable energy companies, with installed capacity exceeding 16 GW across wind (onshore and offshore) and solar assets in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia-Pacific. The company has been a pioneer in offshore wind development and has built a significant pipeline of projects across multiple geographies. The most significant near-term event for EDPR is EDP's announced intention to fully acquire the minority shares it doesn't already own, effectively delisting EDPR and integrating it back into the parent company. Stilwell's rationale is that the separate listing creates complexity and that a unified company can allocate capital more efficiently. For EDPR shareholders, the key question is the buyout price. Beyond the delisting, Stilwell's decisions on project pipeline execution, power purchase agreement pricing, offshore wind commitments, and geographic diversification remain the fundamental drivers of EDPR's standalone value.
