Michael McLintock
UK active fund management, fixed income retail funds, M&G bond fund franchise, European retail investor market
Michael McLintock served as CEO of M&G Investments for many years, overseeing one of the most enduring active fund management franchises in the UK. M&G has roots going back to 1931 and its bond funds became household names for British retail investors. The M&G Corporate Bond Fund and M&G Optimal Income Fund became among the largest retail fixed income funds in Europe. M&G was a subsidiary of Prudential plc and was later demerged into a separately listed company (M&G plc) in 2019. McLintock's stewardship preserved the firm's investment culture while adapting to the increasingly competitive landscape of retail asset management in Europe. His ability to maintain M&G's distinctive investment personality through multiple industry disruptions — the rise of passive investing, the growth of fee pressure, and changing retail distribution channels — is widely credited as a key reason for the firm's enduring commercial success in a challenging environment.
