Michael Kitces

Michael Kitces is a financial planner, researcher, and author who built Kitces.com into the most influential research platform for US financial advisors. His "Nerd's Eye View" blog covers retirement income planning, tax planning, portfolio construction, and financial advisor practice management at an unusually deep technical level. He has done important research on safe withdrawal rates in retirement — the question of what portfolio withdrawal percentages are sustainable over long retirement periods — and his work helped refine and extend William Bengen's foundational "4% rule" research. Kitces also co-founded the XY Planning Network, a community for fee-only financial advisors, and has been an important voice on how financial advisors should structure their businesses to serve clients.
