Mark Mobius
Emerging market equities, frontier markets, EM corporate governance, active EM management
Mark Mobius spent over 30 years at Templeton and later Franklin Templeton Investments managing emerging market equity funds. At his peak, he managed over $50 billion across funds covering Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Africa. He was among the first institutional fund managers to systematically invest in frontier markets, helping legitimize them as investable asset classes. After leaving Franklin Templeton in 2018, he founded Mobius Capital Partners, focusing on small- and mid-cap emerging market companies with governance engagement. His approach at Mobius Capital combines deep fundamental equity research with direct engagement with company management on governance improvements, arguing that better-governed emerging market companies offer superior long-term return potential. His decades of on-the-ground experience across developing economies have made him one of the most knowledgeable global emerging market investors in the institutional asset management industry.
