Mark Mobius

Founder · Mobius Capital Partners

Built Franklin Templeton's emerging market business to $50B+ AUM over 30 years; early advocate for emerging market equities; founded Mobius Capital Partners in 2018; wrote multiple books on emerging market investing.

Mark Mobius received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and built his career as a global investment manager focused on emerging markets. He joined Templeton Worldwide in 1987 and spent over 30 years managing the firm's emerging market funds — eventually overseeing more than $50 billion in assets. During this period Mobius became one of the most recognizable faces of emerging market investing, regularly appearing in media and at investor conferences around the world. He believed that the long-term growth potential of developing economies — particularly in Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe — offered superior investment opportunities relative to the developed world. He became an early and persistent advocate for investing in China, India, Brazil, and other emerging markets long before these became mainstream categories in institutional asset allocation. In 2018 he founded Mobius Capital Partners, a boutique focused on emerging and frontier market equities. Mobius has written several books on emerging market investing and is known for his willingness to travel extensively to visit company management and assess business environments on the ground. He is one of the most famous retail-facing investment personalities of the late 20th century.
