Fred Hu served as Chairman of Goldman Sachs Greater China from 2004 to 2010, overseeing the investment bank's most important client relationships in the region during a period of explosive growth in Chinese capital markets. He left Goldman to found Primavera Capital Group in 2011, a Beijing-based private equity and growth investment firm focused on leading Chinese consumer, technology, and financial companies. Primavera's investments include Alibaba (where Hu had cultivated a relationship during his Goldman years), Xiaomi (the smartphone company), and various leading consumer and healthcare companies.
