Liz Ann Sonders

Liz Ann Sonders studied economics and political science at the University of Delaware and earned her MBA from Fordham University. She joined Avatar Associates in 1982 as a research analyst and investment strategist before moving to Prudential-Bache Securities. She joined Charles Schwab in 2000 as chief investment strategist. In this role she has become one of the most widely followed investment strategists in the US, reaching millions of retail investors through Schwab's research platform, regular television appearances on CNBC and Bloomberg, and a substantial social media following. Her commentary covers macroeconomic trends, equity market conditions, sector rotation, and investment strategy, bridging institutional-quality analysis with accessible language for retail investors. Sonders is credited with being one of the more insightful pre-crisis commentators in 2007-2008, providing useful guidance to Schwab's vast client base.
