Lars Windhorst
European alternative investments, cross-border M&A, distressed special situations, media and entertainment financing
Lars Windhorst became Germany's youngest entrepreneur to receive a state commendation at age 18 when Chancellor Helmut Kohl praised his business acumen. He built his first business empire in the 1990s in Asian technology before facing insolvency. He rebuilt through Sapinda Holdings and later Tennor Holding, engaging in complex cross-border transactions and leveraged investments across media, fashion, football clubs (acquiring a stake in Hertha BSC Berlin), and various other sectors. His career has been characterized by periods of spectacular deal-making followed by financial difficulties, legal disputes, and creditor negotiations. Despite repeated setbacks, Windhorst has consistently found new investors and partners willing to back his ventures, making him one of the most resilient and controversial dealmakers in European finance.
