Tim Archer became president and CEO of Lam Research in 2018, leading one of the three largest semiconductor capital equipment companies in the world. Lam Research dominates two of the most critical chipmaking process steps: etch (using plasma chemistry to carve nanoscale patterns into silicon) and deposition (layering thin films of materials onto wafer surfaces).
