Orchestrated the strategic investment into Tencent and shaped the capital allocation that later underpinned Prosus's asset base

Directed the strategic transformation of a legacy media group into a technology investor through concrete allocation choices and a sustained capital deployment strategy. Decisions to acquire and hold a large Tencent stake were executed under direct oversight and subsequently revalued into a dominant portion of the group balance sheet, creating the economic justification for a separate global internet investment vehicle. Played a decisive role in board-level approvals and the redefinition of corporate investment policy, moving cash flows from legacy operations into minority equity positions in high-growth internet platforms. These implemented allocations materially altered the firm's asset mix and liquidity profile, enabling large block holdings that later supported spin‑offs and public listings. The Tencent transaction and ensuing portfolio construction directly shaped how the spun‑out entity would be capitalized, governed and presented to public markets. The resulting concentration of high-growth tech equity under a single corporate umbrella was a deterministic factor behind the later creation, valuation dynamics and tradability of Prosus-class shares in international markets. Ongoing stewardship included negotiating cross‑border tax and governance structures that affected how capital could be repositioned and realized. Those documented structural and allocation choices are traceable to the initial investment decisions and continue to determine Prosus's exposure, liquidity events and strategic options in public markets.
