Kenji Yoshida serves as President and Representative Director of Oriental Land Company (OLC), the operator of Tokyo Disney Resort, which includes Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. OLC holds a unique position in the global entertainment landscape — it is the only company in the world that operates Disney-branded theme parks without direct Disney ownership. OLC licenses the Disney intellectual property and pays royalties, but retains operational control and the majority of economics, making it one of the most profitable theme park operators globally. Tokyo Disney Resort is remarkable by any measure: the two parks together attract over 25 million visitors annually, rivalling Walt Disney World in Florida for the highest attendance of any Disney resort. More impressively, OLC achieves extraordinary per-guest spending through carefully curated merchandise, food and beverage, and premium experiences — Japanese guests' cultural affinity for Disney characters and seasonal collectibles drives merchandise revenue that far exceeds U.S. Disney parks on a per-capita basis. Yoshida oversaw the opening of Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea in 2024, a massive new themed area featuring attractions based on Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan, along with a new luxury hotel. This approximately ¥320 billion ($2.5 billion) investment was the single largest expansion in Tokyo Disney Resort history. Yoshida's decisions on attraction investment, pricing strategy (OLC has been steadily implementing dynamic pricing), capacity management, and long-term development plans for the resort property are the key drivers of OLC's stock. The company's moat — the combination of irreplaceable Disney IP licensing, Japanese operational excellence, and prime Tokyo Bay real estate — is considered one of the most durable in the consumer discretionary sector.
