global
Ken Seitz became president and CEO of Nutrien in 2024, leading the world's largest provider of crop inputs and services. Nutrien was created through the 2018 merger of PotashCorp (the world's largest potash producer) and Agrium (a major fertilizer producer and agricultural retailer). The combined company holds unmatched scale across the agricultural value chain: the world's largest potash production capacity, significant nitrogen and phosphate manufacturing, and the largest agricultural retail network in the Americas with approximately 2,000 farm supply locations. Potash is Nutrien's most strategically important asset — the company controls approximately 25% of global potash capacity from its Saskatchewan mines, which contain the world's largest known potash deposits. Potash is an essential fertilizer for which there is no substitute, and demand grows structurally with global food requirements. The retail segment provides a unique competitive advantage: Nutrien's farm supply stores sell not only its own fertilizers but also crop protection products, seeds, and agricultural services directly to farmers. Seitz's management of potash production volumes and pricing, retail segment growth, and the balance between fertilizer commodity cycles and the stability of the retail business are the primary drivers of the stock.
