Commodity supercycles, emerging market investing thesis, agriculture commodities, Jim Rogers commodity index, contrarian developing market investing

Jim Rogers co-founded the Quantum Fund with George Soros in 1973, which averaged over 30% annual returns during their partnership. He retired at 37 and subsequently traveled the world twice — once by motorcycle and once by car — studying investment opportunities globally. His travels reinforced a long-term bullish view on commodities, particularly agriculture, and on emerging markets in Asia. He created the Rogers International Commodity Index and has been a persistent long-term bull on China and Asian economies. His books including "Investment Biker" and "Hot Commodities" have been widely read. He is known for provocative statements about US financial markets and what he sees as long-term structural problems. His early and consistent advocacy for commodity investing as a distinct institutional asset class — published years before the commodity super-cycle of the 2000s — is one of the more accurate long-range thematic calls in the history of public investment commentary.
