Architected Nightshade sharding, led core client implementations, SDKs and protocol research
Played a central role in converting academic and protocol research into concrete NEAR implementations by authoring and co‑authoring the design documents that defined Nightshade sharding, the runtime model and core consensus adjustments. Led delivery of reference client code used in testnets and the mainnet launch, coordinating protocol upgrades and hardening consensus paths under mainnet conditions. Drove engineering choices around state sharding, block production and compact state proofs that determined how the NEAR token participates in staking, gas metering and validator economics. Maintained and supervised developer SDKs and toolchains that lowered integration costs for application teams and token projects, directly shaping developer adoption and on‑chain usage patterns. Coordinated with research collaborators and wrote technical specifications used by ecosystem teams (including bridge and contract teams) to implement compatible modules. These concrete engineering outputs—specifications, client releases and upgrade plans—had direct practical effects on throughput, gas cost behavior and the security model underpinning NEAR's token utility.
