Horst Paulmann

Horst Paulmann is the founder and chairman of Cencosud S.A., Latin America's largest and most diversified retail conglomerate. Born in 1935 in Germany and emigrated to Chile as a child, Paulmann opened his first store in 1963 and spent six decades building Cencosud into a retail empire with over 1,100 locations across five countries — Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Colombia. Cencosud's portfolio spans multiple retail formats: Jumbo and Santa Isabel supermarkets, Paris department stores, Easy home improvement stores, shopping centers, and a growing financial services arm (Cencosud credit cards).
