Built the Philippines' leading instant noodle and snack company while acquiring Quorn — the world's largest meat alternative brand — in a bold bet on plant-based protein

Henry Soesanto leads Monde Nissin as CEO, overseeing the Philippines' largest instant noodle and snack food company. The company's flagship brand Lucky Me! is the dominant instant noodle brand in the Philippines and one of the most beloved food brands in the country. Monde Nissin also produces biscuits, snacks, and other packaged foods sold primarily in the Philippines, Southeast Asia, and export markets. The company's most distinctive strategic move was the 2015 acquisition of Quorn Foods for approximately $590 million. Quorn is the world's largest brand of mycoprotein-based meat alternative products — using a proprietary fermentation process that grows Fusarium venenatum fungus into a protein-rich food ingredient. Quorn products are sold primarily in the UK and Europe, making Monde Nissin one of the few emerging market food companies with a significant developed market presence. Monde Nissin had one of the Philippines' largest IPOs in 2021, raising approximately $1 billion. The investment thesis combines two stories: steady growth from the Philippines food business (driven by rising incomes and urbanization in a 115 million population market) and the optionality of Quorn's global plant-based protein platform. Key stock drivers include Philippine packaged food demand, Lucky Me! market share and pricing, Quorn revenue growth and path to profitability, global meat alternative market trends, and Philippine peso exchange rate dynamics.
