Haim Bodek

Haim Bodek spent much of his career building algorithmic trading systems at major financial institutions including Goldman Sachs and UBS, where he was Global Head of Electronic Equity Trading. After leaving UBS to found his own firm Tradewor(l)d, he discovered that certain exchange order types were being offered to HFT firms but not disclosed to others, creating systematic advantages. He became a whistleblower, providing information to the SEC and speaking publicly about specific order types — particularly "Hide Not Slide" orders — that allowed HFT firms to jump queue in ways not visible to other participants. His book "The Problem of HFT" and testimony to regulators contributed to rule changes. His work is considered important for understanding how market microstructure can be gamed for systematic advantage.
