Greg Case
Global insurance broking, risk analytics, human capital advisory, Aon United strategy, Willis Towers Watson merger attempt
Greg Case has been CEO of Aon plc since 2005, leading a significant transformation of the company from a traditional commercial insurance broker to a more diversified professional services and data analytics firm. He has integrated Aon's risk, retirement, and human capital advisory businesses under a unified "Aon United" strategy. In 2020, Aon announced a merger with Willis Towers Watson that would have created the world's largest insurance broker. The merger was ultimately abandoned in 2021 after US Department of Justice opposition. Case has consistently invested in technology and data analytics capabilities to differentiate Aon from competitors in an industry under pressure from technology disruption. Following the abandonment of the Willis Towers Watson merger, Aon redirected the capital that would have been used in the deal toward a significant share buyback program, generating substantial value for shareholders while accelerating organic investment in Aon's analytics and professional services capabilities.
