Co-Founder · Highbridge Capital Management

Co-founded Highbridge Capital (1992); sold majority to JPMorgan (2004) for $1.3B; first major bank acquisition of hedge fund; Highbridge grew to $35B; model became industry template for bank-hedge fund integration.

Glenn Dubin co-founded Highbridge Capital Management with Henry Swieca in 1992. Highbridge developed expertise in convertible bond arbitrage and other fixed income relative value strategies, becoming one of the most successful multi-strategy hedge funds in the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2004 JPMorgan Chase acquired a majority stake in Highbridge Capital for approximately $1.3 billion — one of the first major acquisitions of a hedge fund by a major commercial bank. This transaction was a watershed moment for the industry, validating the institutional appeal of hedge fund businesses as stand-alone platforms. Under JPMorgan's ownership, Highbridge expanded into additional strategy areas and grew to manage approximately $35 billion. Dubin eventually stepped away from active management. He is also known as a significant philanthropist, co-founding the Robin Hood Foundation with Paul Tudor Jones (focused on poverty alleviation in New York City) and being active in other charitable causes. The Highbridge transaction established a model for bank-hedge fund integration that influenced subsequent acquisitions by other financial institutions.
