François-Henri Pinault
global
François-Henri Pinault chairs and leads Kering, the world's second-largest luxury group after LVMH. Kering's portfolio includes some of the most storied fashion houses in history: Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, and Alexander McQueen. Gucci, which accounts for approximately half of Kering's revenue, is the group's most important brand — and its recent creative transition under artistic director Sabato De Sarno has been the central narrative for Kering's stock. Pinault's challenge is restoring Gucci's growth momentum after a period of creative fatigue and consumer disenchantment. After the explosive growth under Alessandro Michele's maximalist aesthetic, Gucci has pivoted to a more refined, understated luxury positioning under De Sarno. This transition requires patience — new collections take time to establish commercial traction, and the luxury consumer is highly sensitive to brand desirability shifts. Meanwhile, Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta have emerged as strong growth engines within the portfolio. Pinault's execution on the Gucci turnaround, performance of the broader brand portfolio, and capital allocation (including the recent significant investment in Valentino) are the critical drivers of Kering's stock price.
