Eric Sprott

Eric Sprott founded Sprott Asset Management in Toronto in 1981, initially as a general equity manager before focusing increasingly on precious metals and natural resources. He became one of the world's most visible gold and silver bulls, arguing for years that precious metals were severely undervalued relative to fiat currency creation and financial system risks. Sprott created physical bullion trusts — including the Sprott Physical Gold Trust and Sprott Physical Silver Trust — that allowed investors to hold allocated precious metals through a publicly traded vehicle. He has been an aggressive buyer of physical silver in particular, with his purchases occasionally moving the silver market. Sprott also became one of the largest financiers of junior mining companies through streaming and royalty arrangements, making Sprott Inc. a central institution in the junior mining ecosystem.
