Dennis Gartman
Published The Gartman Letter daily for 30+ years; widely read by institutional commodity, futures, and macro traders; "22 Rules of Trading" widely distributed among trading desks globally.
Dennis Gartman began his career as a commodity broker and analyst before founding The Gartman Letter in 1987. The letter was published five days a week as a concise market analysis covering commodities, currencies, equity indices, and macro trends from a trading-oriented perspective. It became one of the most widely read daily investment newsletters among institutional commodity and futures traders globally, developing a subscriber base that included hedge funds, commodity trading advisors, and investment banks. Gartman is known for his 'Rules of Trading' — a collection of aphorisms and trading disciplines that have been widely circulated in the trading community. Key rules include 'do more of what is working and less of what isn't' and 'the trend is your friend until it isn't.' His views on gold, currencies, and commodity cycles were particularly influential and frequently cited in financial media. Gartman published his final issue of The Gartman Letter in October 2020, ending a 33-year run. He also served as a trustee of the Campbell University and was active in financial education.
