Founder and network architect

Built the cooperative interbank network model enabling ATM interoperability and interbank settlements

Established governance, operating rules and a cooperative structure for a bank consortium that created interoperable card acceptance and clearing arrangements. By transforming regional card programs into a unified network, the initiative enabled customers to withdraw cash from ATMs belonging to other banks and created the settlement processes necessary to move funds and fees between institutions. The implemented rules and interbank settlement mechanisms reduced barriers to ATM network expansion by providing predictable accounting, dispute resolution and fee allocation. That liquidity plumbing made large-scale ATM deployment commercially attractive to member banks and third-party operators, accelerating the geographic reach of cash access. Long-term effects included standardization of transaction messaging, introduction of interchange fee regimes and institutional models for network governance that later ATM and payment networks replicated. The resulting interoperability directly increased ATM utilization, on-us/off-us routing, and the economic viability of shared ATM infrastructure.
