CEO of London Stock Exchange Group · London Stock Exchange Group

global

David Schwimmer has led London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) since 2018, executing the most transformative deal in the company's 300+ year history: the $27 billion acquisition of Refinitiv in January 2021. This deal fundamentally changed LSEG from a traditional stock exchange and clearing house into a global financial data, analytics, and technology company. Refinitiv brought over 40,000 data sets, the Workspace terminal platform (competing with Bloomberg), and Tradeweb (electronic trading for fixed income, derivatives, and ETFs). Today, LSEG generates the majority of its revenue from data and analytics subscriptions — recurring revenue streams that are far more stable and valuable than transaction-based exchange fees. The Microsoft strategic partnership (Microsoft invested $2.4 billion and took a board seat) is enabling LSEG to integrate AI and cloud capabilities into its data products, with Teams-Workspace integration and copilot features for financial professionals. This partnership positions LSEG at the forefront of AI-powered financial data delivery. Schwimmer's execution on the Microsoft partnership integration, organic revenue growth in Data & Analytics, and cost synergy delivery from Refinitiv are the primary drivers of LSEG's stock.
