Chairman & CEO of Sungrow Power Supply · Sungrow Power Supply

Built the world's largest solar inverter company by shipments, converting sunlight into grid-ready electricity at 405+ GW of installed capacity globally.

Cao Renxian founded Sungrow Power Supply in 1997 and serves as Chairman and CEO, building it into the world's largest solar inverter manufacturer by shipments. Solar inverters perform the critical function of converting direct current (DC) electricity generated by solar panels into alternating current (AC) electricity that can be fed into the electrical grid or used by buildings. With over 405 GW of cumulative installed capacity worldwide, Sungrow inverters convert more sunlight into usable electricity than any other brand. Sungrow has diversified beyond solar inverters into adjacent clean energy technologies: energy storage systems (battery inverters and integrated storage solutions for grid-scale and commercial applications), EV charging equipment, wind power converters, and green hydrogen production electrolyzers. The energy storage business has been growing particularly rapidly as battery storage becomes essential for managing the intermittency of solar and wind generation. The solar inverter market is fiercely competitive, with Sungrow competing primarily against Huawei (the other Chinese solar inverter giant), SMA Solar (Germany), and Enphase/SolarEdge (U.S. microinverter/optimizer companies). Sungrow's cost advantage from Chinese manufacturing scale has enabled rapid market share gains globally. Key stock drivers include global solar installation rates, inverter pricing and margins, energy storage system demand, geographic revenue mix, trade policy impacts, technology innovation (string vs. central inverters), and the competitive dynamics in the solar and storage markets.
