Bruce Flatt
Global infrastructure investing, real estate, renewable energy, private credit, alternative asset management industry
Bruce Flatt has been CEO of Brookfield Asset Management since 2002, leading its transformation from a Canadian property and industrial company into a global alternative asset management giant. Brookfield's strategy centers on long-duration "real asset" investments — infrastructure (toll roads, ports, utilities), real estate (office, retail, multifamily), renewable energy, and private credit — that generate stable cash flows backed by hard assets. Under Flatt's leadership, Brookfield grew from approximately $3 billion in assets to over $900 billion, becoming one of the five largest alternative asset managers globally. He is known for contrarian investing — buying assets that are out of favor or in distressed situations — and for his deep expertise in infrastructure valuation and capital allocation. Flatt has structured Brookfield as a uniquely flexible permanent capital vehicle, able to hold assets for decades.
