Bennett Neo

General Director of Sabeco · Sabeco (Saigon Beer)

Leads Vietnam's largest brewer with 40%+ market share through the iconic Saigon Beer and 333 brands, backed by Thai Beverage's controlling stake.

Bennett Neo serves as General Director of Sabeco (Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation), Vietnam's largest brewery company commanding over 40% of the country's beer market. Sabeco's flagship brands — Saigon Beer (Bia Saigon) and 333 (Ba Ba Ba) — are deeply embedded in Vietnamese culture and daily life, consumed everywhere from street-side pho stalls to formal banquets. Thai Beverage (ThaiBev), controlled by Thai billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, acquired a controlling stake in Sabeco in 2017 for approximately $4.8 billion — at the time the largest M&A transaction in Vietnamese history. Under ThaiBev's ownership, Sabeco has focused on premiumization (shifting consumers toward higher-priced products with better margins), operational efficiency improvements, and expanding the premium Saigon Special brand. Vietnam's beer market is one of the most attractive in Asia: the country has a young population (median age ~31), rising disposable incomes, a deeply ingrained beer-drinking culture, and per-capita beer consumption among the highest in Southeast Asia. However, the government has introduced stricter drunk-driving laws and alcohol advertising restrictions that have moderated growth. Key stock drivers include Vietnam beer volume growth, premiumization trends, competition from Heineken Vietnam (the #2 player), raw material costs (barley, packaging), regulatory changes on alcohol, and ThaiBev's strategic direction for Sabeco.
