Bang Si-hyuk

Founder & Chairman of HYBE · HYBE

Created BTS and built HYBE into the world's largest K-pop entertainment company, pioneering the fan-artist digital platform model through Weverse.

Bang Si-hyuk, known in the industry as "Hitman" Bang, founded Big Hit Entertainment (rebranded as HYBE in 2021) and built it into the world's largest K-pop entertainment company. His creation of BTS — which became the most commercially successful musical act of the 2020s, breaking records for album sales, concert revenue, and social media engagement — transformed both the company and the global music industry's perception of Korean pop music. HYBE has expanded beyond BTS through acquisitions and artist development: Pledis Entertainment (SEVENTEEN, the current top-selling K-pop group), Source Music (LE SSERAFIM), KOZ Entertainment (Zico), and ADOR (NewJeans, though this sublabel has been embroiled in management disputes). The company also operates Weverse — a proprietary fan community and commerce platform that serves as the primary digital connection between artists and fans, generating subscription, merchandise, and content revenue. The company's fundamental challenge is artist concentration risk: BTS members' mandatory South Korean military service (2022-2025) created a significant revenue gap. While SEVENTEEN and other acts have partially filled this gap, no single act generates BTS-level commercial impact. HYBE has invested in U.S. market expansion through Ithaca Holdings (Scooter Braun's company, managing Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande). Key stock drivers include BTS reunion/comeback timeline, SEVENTEEN global sales, Weverse platform growth, new artist debut success, Japan market performance, and the resolution of internal management disputes (particularly around NewJeans/ADOR).
