HPE was created in 2015 when Hewlett-Packard split into HP Inc. (PCs and printers) and HPE (enterprise servers, storage, networking, and services). Neri's signature strategic initiative is GreenLake — HPE's cloud-like consumption model that allows customers to run IT infrastructure on-premises but pay for it as a service, similar to public cloud pricing. GreenLake addresses the reality that most enterprise workloads still run on-premises or at the edge, not in public cloud. The platform now manages over $10 billion in total contract value. The proposed $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks (subject to regulatory approval) would transform HPE into a major networking player, combining HPE's compute and storage with Juniper's switches, routers, and AI-driven network management (Mist AI). HPE is also capitalizing on AI infrastructure demand, selling GPU-accelerated servers and high-performance computing systems.
